Adirondack Pack Basket Weaving

Service Description

Together we will tap into the primitive skill of weaving. Working with a renewable and ecologically sound source known as Rattan, you will weave your own Adirondack inspired backpack basket. This is a two day process that we will curate together, tapping into the spiritual and practical reasons humans weave together. You will have your own personal journey through the process of working with natural fibers where in the end you will have your very own blessed basket from which to begin your journey on all that Life has to BeHold. Many cultures around the world create their beloved vessel in which to wear throughout life. Let us Weave it Together. Mandatory two day commitment, Start time is 9:00 am. You can leave when you reach a certain point in the making process. Everyone weaves at a different pace, plan to be there until 5:00- knowing you might finish earlier. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a ground blanket to sit on and plan to be there for your weaving hours, seated. Bring water and an easy to eat lunch. We will likely eat at different times, depending on individual progress. Bring an intention for your basket. What story will you weave into your pack and wear on your back? You do not have to share this intention. Your basket will hold it. Bring what needs to be integrated and experience the effect of interlacing the fibers to create a sturdy structure. You will weave for about 8 hours, experiencing the ups and downs of life along the way. There are two size options: Medium $175 or Large $225. My name is Katya. I have been weaving for 10 years at my wooded home in Washington state. This workshop will show you a wonderful skill that you can build upon and customize to suite any basket needs you may have. I believe weaving connects me to my ancestors and keeps their ancient skills alive and flowing between us… I see it as a bridge to my Grandmothers.
